The (illustrated) WHO International Classification of Disability, Health, and Functioning
Here's my illustrated cartoon version of the WHO International Classification of Disability, Functioning, and Health (ICF), in the human context of a stroke.
The ICF is a framework to help us understand the effect of disability on a persons life. It's full of terminology that is impersonal and not always self-explanatory. I designed this illustrated version for a Doctors' PhD thesis about a rehabilitation intervention for stroke which was presented recently at the European Stroke Organisation Conference in Milan, Italy.
I believe story is a helpful context to present medical topics and healthcare issues. It can have a deeper emotional level to it when done well, and reminds us of why the science matters in the first place. What do you think?
